Hello, beautiful souls. Welcome back to the angels and awakening podcast. I’m your host and author, Julie Jancis and friends today. We have on none other than Marianne Williamson friends. You’ve heard me say before on the podcast that Marianne Williamson’s book, a return to love was one of the very first books that I read on my spiritual journey.

And so I’m just. So excited to have you on today, Marianne. Thank you for being here. Oh, thank you. Thank you, Julie, for having me. You’ve written a new book, the mystic Jesus, the mind of love, which is so beautiful, which is what I want to dive into today, but I want to start off with [00:02:00] this just to address people because you did run for president, which is such an amazing thing.

And no matter what people believe about sides, what I felt is that you really Um, so when I put out there to the community that you’re going to be on today, somebody said, oh, Julie, I’m surprised. You’re going to have a politician on. And to me, it’s not about the politics. It’s You’ve always been about the spiritual center and bringing people back to that.

Well, it’s not just that I have been, so has American history. You said there hasn’t been much spirituality in American history. I would point, uh, to the Great Seal of the United States on the dollar bill. And that the Great Pyramid at Giza. Not just that, that came later, but the Great Seal of the United [00:03:00] States is the Great Pyramid at Giza, with the capstone returned and the Eye of Horus.

Now, the capstone at the Great Pyramid of Giza was removed, theoretically thousands of years ago. Nobody knows where it is. Theoretically, it would have fallen off the pyramid. It would be underneath the sands there. They’ve done all these archaeological digs. One of the theories is that during the decline of the Egyptian civilization, that some Egyptian monks climbed up to the top, and they removed it, and they buried it somewhere.

Now, in the metaphysical tradition, of which the founders were very well aware, you know, in those days, things like astrology, Rosicrucians, et cetera, that was a gentleman’s art. The capstone has never been returned, but in the metaphysical tradition, it is said that when humanity is ready to reach its divine potential, the capstone at the pyramids will be dug up from beneath the sands of Egypt, which means from the deep subconscious [00:04:00] mind.

So, our founders, five of them, designed the Great Seal of the United States, it has the capstone return, anybody can get a dollar bill out and look at this, it has the Eye of Horus, which is really the third eye, the light spreading out from it, because that’s what was actually there in order for people to know where the pyramid was when the sun shone a certain way, and underneath it’s written, Novus.

Ordo seclorum, which means new order of the ages. So that’s the first thing. The second thing is the very idea of a nation founded on the idea that all men were created equal, the idea that we are endowed by our creator with in alienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The governments are just here to secure those rights.

This is an entirely spiritual dispensation here. Also, when you look at the history of America, let’s take the abolitionists, okay? Now, there were the black [00:05:00] abolitionists and there were the white abolitionists. Among the white abolitionists, the entire movement sprang from the early evangelical churches in New Hampshire.

Among the women suffragists, many of them, the leaders were religious Quakers. And of course, Dr. Martin Luther King, head of the civil rights movement, was a Baptist preacher. So, this idea that there hasn’t been much spirituality. I would argue the opposite, that this is an aberrational chapter of American history, where it’s about money, it’s about technology, it’s about business, and that the spirit has been so leeched out of it.

I would say I’m the traditional girl here, if that makes sense. I love it! Well, and like I said to to me, you’re such a mentor growing up reading all of your books, a return to love. My mom came home with your book when I was in seventh or eighth grade. And I remember seeing a return to love seeing sitting on her night table and being like, okay, what is this [00:06:00] about?

Um, To me, the mystic Jesus, the mind of love, when I read it, it felt so much like a return to that book and to those, yeah, it’s kind of equal. Yeah. Yes. Um, you talk and we talk openly here on the podcast. about having these mystical experiences and you kind of open up the book talking about seeing Jesus and maybe not being ready to accept Jesus back into your heart, um, in a way of just like kind of tuning in, but you’re seeing faces and you’re seeing like the face of Jesus.

Can you tell this? Cause you’ll tell it better than, than I can repeat it from the book. Well, you know, I’m a student of A Course in Miracles, and A Course in Miracles talks about how it does emanate from the mind of Jesus. But it doesn’t make a big deal about that, because it’s, it’s saying, this is about how we treat each other, not just what we believe, but what we experience.

And so, it’s not trying to get us to quote unquote believe in Jesus, or even believe in [00:07:00] God. It’s trying to teach us how to practice forgiveness. And in that lies the experience of Jesus, lies the experience of God, lies the experience of the divine. So, I was a student of the Course in Miracles, I had no problem with the Jesus aspect, but it’s worth pointing out, I’m Jewish.

So when I first saw the Course in Miracles, I didn’t know if this book was for me, because the Course does use traditional Christian terms, but it uses them in decidedly non traditional psychotherapeutic ways. So, the Jesus part, I wasn’t Uncomfortable with, it was neutral for me in a way as a student of the Course in Miracle.

But I went through an experience in my life of, um, great pain. And when I was going through this period of grief, I was, I found it very difficult to sleep. And I would sense at the end of my bed, [00:08:00] sometimes they use the word shade, a figure. Well, not human, but like somebody was sitting there and it was tall, thin, looking perpendicular, not looking at me, but looking out perpendicular.

And I thought just accompanying me in my grief, I don’t know any other way to put it. And I thought, I wonder if that’s what that is. It was not a big dramatic thing, but I had a sense of accompaniment in my darkest hour. But then I went through an experience where, and so I knew I wasn’t. Trouble. And I was seeing a psychiatrist.

I’d already been doing the Course in Miracles. So I was working through what was happening. And during that time, I said to God, if you will put my life back together, I’ll do whatever you want me to do for the rest of my life. Then I started, as I got, [00:09:00] as I got better, this sense that somebody was with me.

Which I assume was Jesus, but I wasn’t into some big grandiose about the names I was already a student of the course, but I started feeling a little bit like, you know, I’m really glad you were here I like enough already. I don’t need I’m sure there are other people you can help You know, I name in the book like I was going to blow off Jesus like okay.

Thank you very much. You can go now So I wanted out during that time of my darkness and my agony. All I had was cleaving to God You Leading to God, which is the only way I could take one breath after another. But then as I started to get better, Okay, thank you very much, I’m ready to, you know, I’m getting ready to go back.

And I went to a party one night. I was living in Houston. And it was a big house. But the rooms of the party, I remember, were not that big. Because I remember walking into a room. It was kind of like a library. [00:10:00] Everybody was very dressed up. And there were these three men talking to one another. And looking at each other, standing there like you see, you know, men talking and they’ve got glasses in their hands or they were drinking.

Now, this must have been, I always say the Holy Spirit works through your subconscious mind. And it must have been a, you know, a waking hallucination, a waking dream, whatever the, you know, your, your mind comes up with. One of the men, he was standing on the left, and he turned around and he looked at me, and it was Jesus.

There was just no question who it was, and he looked at me with no affect, no, no, no attitude whatsoever, and he said, I thought we had a deal. So that changed my life. It’s interesting. I don’t think I’ve kept up my side. Perfectly. But I think he recognizes the, I was going to say recognizes the good intention, but the [00:11:00] course of miracles says your good intentions are not enough.

Your willingness is everything. Yeah, absolutely. Um, while we’re on the topic, I’ve got so many questions about the book, but I just wonder, what is your belief in angels or what do you believe about the course of miracles? The course of miracles says angels are the thoughts of God. You know, you wake up in the middle of the night.

And. Often it’s in the middle of the night because that’s when the clients and you you’re told something you receive These days often people call it a download. Um when uh Mary was told to wake up go to the roof It means going to that meditator state the angel gabriel told her and that angel gabriel the messenger of god.

So Um, the thoughts of god abound you can talk about these things, you know, you can say oh, it’s just an intuitive hit I got But, uh, also in, in both Judaism and in Christianity, there’s the phrase, the [00:12:00] small, still voice for God. And the course does, as I said, actually say angels are the thoughts of God.

That’s amazing. I love that. I see them as extensions too. That’s beautiful. Yeah.

Now back to the show. One of the things that you say in the book, and this is why I wanted to have you on in healing ourselves, we heal the world.

And it’s one of the main themes within your book. You talk about soul pain and learned powerlessness. I think that those are amazing terms. Can you describe those a little bit? Okay. Throw one at me and I’ll take each one in line. Soul pain. You know, we talk a lot about mental health these days and anxiety and depression and trauma and I think that we’re all traumatized because living in this world is traumatic because the way of being that dominates this [00:15:00] world is so at odds with the true self of who we are.

We are love and we are here to love and yet our civilizations are not organized around that principle. Probably millions of years, the Course would say, have lived on this planet dominated by a thought system based on fear. And that thought system based on fear tells us that we’re separate when in fact we’re one.

On the level of the body, we’re separate. But on the level of spirit, there’s no place where I stop and you start. So, there’s an image that the Course uses that I think speaks to this perfectly. It says you think it’s like you’re a sunbeam thinking you’re separate from other sunbeams. It’s like you’re a wave in the ocean thinking you’re separate from other waves.

Now, think about the psychological difference between identifying with the idea of yourself as one wave in the whole ocean [00:16:00] versus identifying yourself as one with the ocean. Okay? If I think of myself as only one wave surrounded by this huge ocean, how can I not live in constant fear of annihilation?

Constant fear that another wave is going to overwhelm me and I will no longer exist. That’s soul pain. It’s being in your body, but over identifying with your body. Because on the level of the body, you get it right sometimes, you get it wrong sometimes. People like you sometimes, people don’t like you sometimes.

Um, you have money sometimes, you don’t have money sometimes. And you think that your physical birth was the beginning of your life, when really it was a continuation of an eternal spirit. You think that the end of your life is the end, when in fact it’s just a continuation of your eternal spirit. So we’re taught that we are not who we are.

We’re taught that we are who we are not. And it’s a soul pain because you can’t live comfortably in your body when you think that the body is who you are. The body is a suit of clothes. That’s the [00:17:00] underlying soul pain. And it confuses us, not only about our identity, it confuses us about who other people are.

Because everything I just said is true, not only of you. But also of everyone else, we’re all thinking that our guilt is who we are, when really our eternal innocence behind those mistakes is who we are. And we can’t, we, we have no sense of what our purpose is here. So we’re in pain, it’s like, we think we’re living in a meaningless universe.

And until that is corrected, of course we’re in pain. One of the quotes that you say in the book, and I’m paraphrasing here, but you say just as consistent exercise changes our physical body, consistently choosing to be kind and loving changes our personality. You don’t have to have faith in the power of.

Of gravity. You simply have to understand gravity in the same way. You don’t have to have faith in the power of love. You simply have to understand love when we’re angry or confused, frustrated, or [00:18:00] triggered. God does not ask us not to be. God simply asks us to be willing. Not to be that just hits your heart We are living as I said in a world that is counter to the truth of the spirit and we are taught A an unnatural way of thinking from the time.

We’re very young to the point where that which is natural thinking love forgiveness compassion grace feels unnatural and judgment and attack and defense And blame feels natural, right? And from that comes all manner of dysfunction and neurosis and pathology and negative feelings. Now, enlightenment is not about suppressing those feelings.

It’s about unlearning the thoughts that give rise to them. The perspective on the world that gives [00:19:00] rise to them. The idea of Jesus here is the idea of an internal guide. An internal teacher, a connecting link between us when we’re in our crazy versus us. The truth the unalterable truth of who we are so stuff has to come up in order to be released Just like a detox in the physical body So he says in the course I can’t take from you what you will not release to me So real spiritual evolution is not about saying.

Oh, i’m not angry. I’m not angry Really? I’m not angry when you sure as hell are it’s about saying I am angry, but I am willing not to be Um, there’s a story I tell in the book about something that happened back in the 1980s a long time ago You And I remember that was in 1980s because it’s a story about my having my acrylic fingernails put on.

And I used to go to a woman who used to come to my lectures, I think on Saturday mornings, and I would go to her house and I’m sitting [00:20:00] in like at a nail table and she’s got my hand in her hands and she’s putting on my nails. She has a few women like three or four women who are her friends who were there that day.

Okay. Now they’re all talking and I’m just listening. I’m just, you know, the girl having my nails done. They’re all talking. One of the young women had what seemed to me like a very affected way of speaking and it was driving me nuts. It was like fingernails on a blackboard. I was like, what is this with this chick?

Why is she talking like that? Like, what is it with her? And I just thought it was so affected or so whatever. I can’t remember what I thought, but I just very judgmental. Okay. Now I’m sitting here thinking, well, how ironic is this? The woman is holding my hand, sort of thinks I’m beyond this. Right. So what does the course tell you to do?

I’m, dear God, I’m having a very judgmental thought. I’m being very judgmental towards this woman, but I am willing. The course says your good intentions are not enough. Your willingness is everything. [00:21:00] I said, I am willing to see this differently. All this is going on in my head. I swear within five minutes, maybe it was a little longer, but it seemed right away.

One of the other women said to the woman who had such an affected voice, Is it true what I heard? They’re going to let your father out of prison. Now I’m just listening. This young woman, it was like one of those things you see on television. She and her little brother had basically been held in a dungeon their entire lives.

They’d been held in the basement of their home by their father. They had only been rescued when she was about 18 years old. Wow. And she didn’t know how to talk.[00:22:00]

Here was this woman learning how to talk. Same sound, same voice. Ten minutes before, bringing up in me such judgment, ten minutes later, the same voice, the same speech, bringing up in me such compassion, such respect, such pity, such admiration. She hadn’t changed. I had changed. He says in the course, you think you’re going to find whether or not you’re going to try to understand someone to see whether or not they are worthy of your love.

He said, but I tell you, until you love them, you can’t understand. So he is someone who’s asked so it’s like the moment you ask it’s set into the trajectory It’s gonna be a book you read It’s gonna be something someone says [00:23:00] it’s gonna be a thought like you would say an angel where it just comes to you It could be a dream.

It could be a movie. It could be a song lyric Wow Mm hmm, and that’s how we grow one a heart at a time But when you ask, you know you ask and sometimes You When you do ask things appear to get worse before they get better, because it’s like the Holy Spirit puts a magnifying glass on your issues. You ready to look at it now?

Right? Yeah. So, Jesus in the Course in Miracles is seen as An elder brother. I quote in the beginning of the book, something from the Course, where it says, I am in a state that is only potential in you. I don’t have anything you don’t have. The difference between us is I don’t have anything else. He is someone who has fully actualized the consciousness, and having done so, the Course says, he has been authorized by God.[00:24:00]

To, um, help us get there and join with him in that place. He also says, I love this part, Jesus says, I’m not an ego oriented teacher. I look forward to the day when you don’t have to ask me for help. You’re there already at that point. However, I will no longer be your teacher. I will remain there. As your friend, I know.

Oh my gosh. That’s just like a hug for the heart. There are a lot of lines like that in the course, like when you make a big mistake or a small mistake or any mistake, the course says the miracle you would have had, had you thought and behaved lovingly, the you that could have thought and behaved lovingly, Is an undeletable file in the computer.

You just didn’t choose it in that moment to bring it down. The miracle that you could have had, had you chosen the you that you could be. [00:25:00] Hold on. Are you ready for this? Yeah, it’s held in trust for you. Oh by the Holy Spirit Until you are ready to receive it. I love that. So let’s break that down even more for people I remember reading that in the big Jesus.

It’s such a powerful line So here you are you’re going about your life and there’s times where? We’re not ready yet, or we’re processing, we’re in the middle of processing something and we’re, or we didn’t meditate that morning, or we get triggered, or somebody said something, or we’re just in a bitchy mood for whatever reason.

Yep. And so you choose maybe the behavior or you say something or you do something that isn’t what you would have chosen if you were in the present, if you were fully aligned in oneness. Right. But the miracle. is held in trust for you. So you’re allowed to work through your stuff, get [00:26:00] yourself to the place where you need to be.

And in the present moment, I, um, I have so many note cards for you. Uh, but, but hold on, Julie, I want to say one thing there. This is where something called the atonement comes in. Yes. You have to recognize what you did. Yes. You, you do. You can’t just work through it and get there. You have to. So the atonement is you have to go back and realize this result came from my having said this, done this.

Uh, tweeted this, texted this, emailed this, you have to go back to that moment and get it. And then it says in the, in the course along the line of held in trust for you, it says the Holy Spirit will do all consequences of my wrong decision if I will let him. And also when you say you didn’t choose. And the Course in Miracles, it makes it clear we’re choosing every moment.

We’re choosing consciously, sometimes we’re choosing unconsciously. [00:27:00] But every thought we think is a choice. It’s either a choice for an open heart, miracles flow forth, or it’s A choice for a closed heart in which case we’re deflecting the miracles that would have otherwise occurred I want to talk about that.

But first I want to say this because one of the most powerful lines too in your book Um our crucifixion which I see is our woundedness or our pain is never our choice But our resurrection always is I mean, that’s so powerful. Our crucifixion is never our choice because we’re always going to have things that happen.

And we’re not the chooser of those. We didn’t always bring those on ourselves, but how we handle them in our resurrection. So when you really process experiences in life, it’s about forgiving others. And it’s about forgiving ourselves, atoning for our own mistakes, as well as forgiving others for this life is complicated and there are nuances and stuff.

But the point is, no matter what happens. The Course in Miracles says you were not created to be at the effect of [00:28:00] lovelessness and yourself or others. So regardless of the situation, regardless what’s happening, regardless who did what, regardless what I did, I am at choice who I choose to be in the space of what’s happening.

Remember with Jesus, he had someone crucified to his left, crucified to his right. We never heard that they resurrected your consciousness while in the midst of the crucifixion invokes the resurrection. It’ll still take three days, the symbolic three days. You’re still going to have to grieve. You’re going to have to process, you’re going to have to make amends.

You’re going to have to work through your stuff. That’s what those three days symbolize. And the resurrection means the return to right mindedness. And he says in the Course, I do not need you to join with me in crucifixion. I’ve done that. We’ve already risen above that. Join with me in the resurrection.

Share my resurrection. Okay? You’re going to have to recognize what you did wrong. Atone for your mistakes. And you’re going to have to find a way to forgive the other people. And if you’re willing, and you get there, listen to this. This [00:29:00] part I love. You ready for this? Yeah. When the women went three days later to claim the body, right, that went to the tomb.

Three days later, get, get the body. What’d they tell her? He’s not here. He’s risen. You know what that means? You’re not even the same person on the other side of this. Yeah. You, they, you can’t even find the old you. They, they couldn’t even find the body. That body doesn’t exist. You had been molecularly changed.

You know, I, I, I’ve gone through something where I’ve thought, wow, wouldn’t it be amazing to be the woman who didn’t care? Wow. I want to be her. I not only want to be the woman who would never have manifested. I want to be the woman who, now that it’s manifest, I’m cool. That’s amazing. Well, and the knowing love is real.

Nothing else exists. So you say in the book, I love how you have the three days before the resurrection. [00:30:00] Um, it kind of reminds me of when in the book you talk about how you could have saved yourself a lot throughout life. If you just would have given it the weekend to think something over instead of making a flash decision, it kind of reminds me of that resurrection.

Absolutely. Um, Thinking of one of them, all I had, you know, with some people, you can actually say, and in this case, this was someone, to whom I could have said, uh, I’d like to pray about this, would you mind if I take the weekend, maybe ask you some questions. But even if it’s not someone with whom it would be cool to talk that way, just in normal life, I could have said, um, if I could have the weekend to think about this, I’d appreciate it.

That’s all I had to do. You don’t have to answer right now. Because the voice of, of the spirit, sometimes it’s sort of hidden under the layers of fear and reaction and you just need time, pray, think, [00:31:00] consult. I think particularly for women, I think that we’re, I think men too, I think everybody’s afraid to admit, well, I don’t have the answer right now.

Well, until you realize powerful people say that all the time.

Friends, I’m pausing for 30 seconds because I love, love, love connecting with you. And I want to connect with you more. Got a question. Let me answer it for you on the podcast. The link to submit your questions is in the show notes. Also, we need your angel stories. Share your angel stories at theangelmedium.

All links are in the show notes. Thank you for listening. Now, back to the show. I really believe that 2025 is a [00:32:00] year that, um, a lot of people are really going to come to the word miracles.

If I could give 2025 a word, it would be miracles. Good. Cause we need them girlfriends. Yes. But I think that people have a lot of misconceptions about miracles, that miracles only come in the big challenging times of life when we need them, but miracles come every day in multitude of different ways. How do you define miracles?

So the Course in Miracles defines it, thought is the level of cause. What we experience in the world is like projection onto a big screen. So the world as we know it is a realm of effects. Thought is the level of cause. So you can’t try to change the effects if you don’t change on the level of cause. God created the law of cause and effect.

What God creates cannot be altered. So you can’t ask God, take away the effects that my thoughts cause. He won’t do that. He can’t do that. But he can work with you on the level of [00:33:00] cause. So the level of cause, the universe is both self organizing and self correcting. When you’re in the space of Love, only intention to love, be love, giving love, receiving love.

That’s all that’s going on here. The universe, it’s kind of like in the fairy tales when the young maiden is walking through the woods and all the birds sing around her and all the, the, the, the lambs and the animals come with her because you’re, you’re in, in the flow of nature. It could be huge things.

It could be tiny things. It’s, it’s some sign that the, the universe is unfolding in a way that reflects the love in your mind. It could either be the next best thing to where you already were, or it could be something that corrects where you hadn’t been, but because you were toned in your mind, the universe brings it forth.

How can people open themselves, open their hearts more to receiving miracles, a very different energy [00:34:00] and having this openness and this receptivity and having a limited belief system. Well, anybody who’s listening to your podcast is already in that conversation, right? So we already know this the issue is applying it on a practical basis I think the first thing to remember is that every religious and spiritual tradition i’ve ever read about emphasizes the morning because when you wake up in the morning, if you go directly to social media or to the news or Your emails you are immediately taking in this sort of assault You Of modernity that that’s driving that’s shadowing.

Everybody’s nervous system So it’s like you were mentioning before there’s external exercises internal exercise yoga put yourself in the correct position It’s the yoga of the mind. It could be course in miracles. It could be the kabbalah. It could be transcendental meditation It could be buddhism.

Whatever is your form of practice reflection [00:35:00] mindfulness prayer, even if it’s secular It doesn’t matter something to align You Your nervous system with what you know to be true. Now that doesn’t mean you’re going to be an enlightened master for the rest of the day. However, it does mean this. The chances of you falling off the spiritual wagon, getting reactive or nuts or whatever you do, when you’re out of whack spiritually, the chances of it are much less.

Not only that, when and if it does happen, the chances of you catching yourself, correcting yourself, apologizing, whatever, is much greater. So that’s number one. Number two, you know, the mind is such that if I don’t proactively give my mind to the light, That same mental energy you of course the miracle says you can misuse your mind But you do not have the power to diminish its power because god gave it that power So your mind is either going to serve love or going to serve fear So if I proactively say i’m waking up this morning.

I [00:36:00] am a child of god. I am here to love I i’m blessing everybody i’m going to meet today. Everybody. I don’t know i’m going to meet today I’m, just blasting the world with love god. Where would you have me go? What would you have me do? What would you say me saying to home if I do that? I’m filling my house with light and if I don’t fill my house with light, that same mental energy will be the ego will say, okay, and that’ll go for neurosis.

It’ll go for pathology. It’ll go for victimization. It’ll go for meat, meatiness. It’ll go for controlling this. It’ll go for negativity. It’ll go for jealousy. It’ll go for wherever your, your energy, your mental energy is going to go somewhere. So if you don’t proactively surrender it and direct your subconscious mind.

And so, you know, I woke up, uh, I think it was yesterday. And this one person that I’ve had a difficult time forgiving, but I’m really, really getting there compared to where I was. But still like my [00:37:00] exercise this morning was. Oh, and that actually was a different person, and it was this morning, and I was thinking kind of some stuff about him.

My exercise this morning was, it can be but myself I crucify. So the Course in Miracles says, when you’re judging someone, imagine a sword falling on their head. But it’s not falling on theirs, it’s falling on yours. It’s only one of us here. So you do this work, whether it’s Course in Miracles or whatever your practice.

And, uh, you know, that that’s all that’s going on here. You can’t be happy unless you forgive. And I think at this time, Julie, given what’s going on on the planet. Everybody’s so angry. Everybody’s so judgmental. Everybody’s so smug and self righteous, and you didn’t vote the way I voted. So, you know, or how could you be political?

Or how could you be spiritual? Or how could you vote? Enough! Enough! The Course in Miracles says, I’m not, God’s not asking you to monitor other people’s [00:38:00] process. That’s not the vigilance He’s asking for. Look at your own. Dear God, remove from me. This facet of my character, which is blocking the love. He says in the course, this course does not aim at teaching the meaning of love.

It aims at removing the barriers to the awareness of love’s presence. And everything we go through, every situation is Inviting you to play this last time this happened in your life. If you played it well, why don’t you even play it better? And it’s also going to tempt you to fall back into old ego default patterns where you’re not as open hearted as you could be.

That’s all. That’s anything ever happening. The course says everybody’s life is a highly individualized curriculum. Every situation is the perfect situation for teaching us, honing us. Making us the people God would have us be. It reminds me of something that you said in the book that, that I wrote down.

We can have a grievance or we can have a miracle, but not both. [00:39:00] The course says the vision of one world costs you the vision of the other. If I, it’s like any thought that’s not love is like a shadow across the sun. Miracles occur naturally is expressions of love. If you’re not expressing love and thinking with love, you’re blocking the possibility of the miracle.

I’ll give you an example. Should I give you an example for the book? Yeah. So years ago, this was many years ago. This was probably in the nineties. Okay. There was a magazine and there was an editor. He was a famous editor and he said something about me making fun of the course in miracles or something mocking, you know, we’re, we don’t know it, whatever.

Yeah. Yeah. And I was insulted and hurt. Now the Course in Miracles says if you bring that judgment and that grievance from the past, if you drop it and don’t bring it, [00:40:00] then the universe will always recalibrate and the miracle will be new and beginning again. And whatever lovelessness occurred, the universe will reset everything.

But that’s the meaning of the line the vengeance since mine sayeth the Lord means God will handle it. Not you Okay, you ready for this about I don’t know a month two months three months. I don’t know Within a period of time my agent told me that that magazine editors wife Would like to have lunch with me And she was an author.

She was a well known author And I did something so stupid and I mention it just because it’s such a radical example of stupidity. Hello, you don’t have to be spiritual. No, that was dumb. But just to see it work I sat down at that lunch and I went right into it about what her husband had done to me Now that was really dumb.

I brought that shadow [00:41:00] figure from the past I brought it into the present The only place where the miracle can happen is the present the universe is ready to start again. She looked at me You a little bit horrified. We finished lunch and guess what? I found out later her husband had cancer. She was a fan of mine and was hoping perhaps I could help him.

So the universe was ready to start again. The universe was ready to make sure that he knew that he’d been inaccurate. Yep. And I blocked the miracle by bringing in my judgment, my grievance, what he did to me, blah, blah, blah. I love this because it ties in. You say new beginnings are always available to us, but only in a present moment.

That’s a perfect example. Perfect example. Yeah. Perfect. There is a point. You have to process things. But [00:42:00] there’s a point where the process becomes spewing. Yeah. There’s a time where the feeling, feeling the feelings becomes indulging the feelings. Well, I really want the clients or listeners to get this of when you, cause we’ve all done this.

We’ve all been in that moment where we’ve done the exact same thing. So for using yourself as an example. But when you’re sitting down to lunch, you are in the present moment with her. You’re in the past. Well, that’s why, before you even go to lunch, you blast that room with love. Ooh. Did I not meditate that morning?

I don’t know. I tell another story in the, in the, where I sort of, I use a lot of, you know, you learn from your successes and your failures and for whatever reason, most of my stories and this one is, Oh, I blew me today. I blew it that time. Yeah. This is why you prepare your consciousness in the morning.

This is why before you go into a meeting, before you go into a date, before you have lunch, it could be [00:43:00] personal, could be professional, clear it all before you go in. Yeah. Blast the room with love. Bless everybody with love. Say, dear God, whatever judgments I’m coming in with, or fears I’m coming in with, please take all of that.

That’s what Jesus, God, whatever, and um, I am only here, there’s a line at the part in the Course where it says, I am only here to represent Him who sent me. I don’t have to know what to say or what to do, for He who sent me will guide and direct me. Yeah, you do that before you go in well, and it’s interesting because we all are living this experience of life and i’ve been reading spiritual books since 1994 1995 And so you go through all of these different layers and levels of consciousness And we feel, we, we can’t spiritually bypass it, which is not what you’re talking about at all.

Not feeling it, not just kind of sweeping it under the rug. You talk about spiritual [00:44:00] alchemy, which is very, very fascinating. And the cosmic reset, um, that we have to change our mindset on this. We’re not bypassing. We are feeling, and we are choosing to make a different choice. Um, you probably know I ran for president.

And, um, this time, it was a very brutal experience, and I really lived in the belly of that beast. And of course, America says you have to take 100 percent responsibility for your experience in life. If you do not take 100 percent experience, Then, um, you won’t, you pay a very high price for that. The price you pay is you won’t be able to change your experience.

So at the end of all that, I definitely had a lot to process. A lot of people had done me wrong, but even in the cases where they’d done me wrong in some of them, why did you even let them in the room? If some of them, [00:45:00] yes, but if you had been more sophisticated at this or that, whatever, I had much to process.

I was very aware, Marianne, if you don’t do this. You will be an angry, bitter, pathetic old woman. Process or run for president? Process. If you don’t do the work, if you don’t allow yourself to grieve, if you don’t process it, you know, I wrote a book called Tears to Triumph about what Buddha has to say, what the Old Testament has to say, what the New Testament, you know, there’s that three days between the crucifixion and the resurrection is the same symbolism as the 40 years in the desert in the Old Testament.

So you have this, this, this, this period of time. And I opened the book, Tears to Triumph, with a quote from Rilke. Let me, let me not squander the hour of my pain. Periods of sorrow, of agony, of grief, [00:46:00] getting over brutal experiences, is also sacred. It’s what used to be called the dark night of the soul. And you can become an artist at that.

You take care of yourself during that time. You surround yourself only with people who would understand you. You protect your heart. You go through it. And at the same time, you do something every day to generate the new just generate the new beginning. And it’s an alchemy that’s going on inside you. And I was very aware if you don’t do this work, if you don’t let all of it come up and all the memories that are painful and admit where no, that was, that was your call or you should have gotten when they lied about you, you should have gotten online and you should have told the truth, you know, you would handle that differently.

And blah, blah, blah, you have to feel it. You have to go through it. But I know if I don’t, if I try to nullify the pain or self Medicaid or [00:47:00] just, you know, be self indulgent with just blaming everybody else or, you know, holding then you will turn into the woman you don’t want to be. But if you allow this, if you do that work, your heart will open more.

You can be a woman who is better for having experienced this. You know, it goes back to what you and I were saying before. It’s not always the situation you want, but we’re always a choice who we choose to be in the space of the situation. But it is alchemy. And I think this country is going through a profound experience of alchemy right now.

People, I think since this presidential election, there’s been a lot of people, a lot of waking up, a lot of growing up. All of us are being really challenged to be gracious towards people who don’t, simply don’t agree with us. Um, a lot of alchemy, collective alchemy and personal alchemy going on right now, don’t you think so?

Oh, absolutely. And I just feel, uh, I feel called to talk [00:48:00] about it, but I also feel like the intensity of the energy is still so high and the angels I just keep hearing is just give it a couple of months because people need. to go within and just understand and process for themselves before they’re going to be able to receive messages on that.

Yeah. I mean, that’s, I think there’s, uh, I understand what you’re saying and, and I think those, um, to say, and this is not a, but yeah, don’t let that be taken as permission to fall asleep. Oh, for sure. No, for sure. I love that. Well, and I always like to give listeners a place to start with the work. And in the book, you talk a lot about prayer and it’s so simple, but it’s so powerful.

You ask the reader at one point, have you prayed about it? [00:49:00] And you say, it’s a very different thing to know that God’s got it versus from our own free will placing our challenges. Into God’s hands. And I think that that’s something that anybody can do at any time. The Course in Miracles says prayer is the medium of miracles.

The altar to God, the Course in Miracles says, is in your hands. So if I place something, I mean, in your mind, I’m sorry. So if you place something on the altar, remember the altar is higher. Place a situation. Let’s say, um, uh, let’s say you and I have an argument. So I placed my relationship with Julie on the altar.

What does that mean? I’m asking that God lifted up. What does that mean? I’m praying that I see only the innocence in her and she see only the innocence in me. I’m asking that I see the only innocence in myself and that she see only the innocence in herself. I’m asking that a great wave of forgiveness wash us clean.

Now the course of miracle says that the very fact we [00:50:00] met means that we are destined to reconcile. But how long that takes? It could be lifetimes, but to pray about it means, no, I want to direct a sense. I’d like a healing now. I love it. Oh, the mystic Jesus, the mind of love is amazing. Um, Marianne, tell everybody where they can get the book, where they can find you.

The book is at bookstores. It’s online. It’s free. You know, that kind of thing, wherever you buy books, you can go to my website, maryann. com and uh, see more about the book, more about my classes, please sign the mailing list. I’m also doing a seminar on December 15th on a metaphysical Christmas, which I’d love to invite you to.

Um, so yeah, it’s, uh, I’m pretty easy to find, maryann. com. I think how old I have to be to have Marianne. com, by the way. That’s amazing. I know. You had to have been around in the beginning. And [00:51:00] we’ve got a big listenership here in Chicagoland. You’re actually going to be in Chicago. Um, this is airing on a Monday.

You’re going to be in on Saturday. Yeah, that’s right. So December 7th. Yes, Saturday, December 7th at the altar from 2 to 5. And, uh, if you go to marianne. com and to the events section, you can see all the information. We’ll put that link in the show notes so you can join us and I’ll be there too. I can’t wait to give you a big hug.

Oh, you too. I look forward to meeting you in person. Thank you. You too.
