Julie: [00:00:00] Hello, beautiful souls. Welcome back to the angels and awakening podcast. I’m your host and author, Julie Jancius and friends today. If you’re listening on your regular listener, uh, normally we have an intro outro ad, no intro today, no outro, no ad. Um, I want to talk to you here at the beginning because there’s so much happening in the world.

I want you to know a couple of things. And, uh, first before we get started. I just wanted you to know that if you, um, are a regular listener of the podcast, you know that we put up a new episode every Monday, every Thursday. That is not changing. Um, in addition to those episodes, the angels came in and said that they wanted us to put up some episodes.

Messages of positivity, angel messages that can really help you to get on track for this year. Now, uh, with my birthday being January [00:01:00] 6th and, um, uh, uh, sickness in the household and then some other stuff happening, I, I wasn’t able to air these right on January 1st, like I wanted to. I started them, uh, January, I think.

Um, All right, diving into this episode. I want to start with this. There’s a couple of different layers to this [00:04:00] episode.

I want to explain and bring through some angel messages here at the beginning. Then you’re going to dive into a healing that I did for LA. Um, you can just listen to it. Even if you’re working at work, you can channel energy while you’re listening. Uh, and then afterwards I have an interview for you and, uh, I put these things all in here together in their entirety so that you could listen to all pieces, but here’s the deal, friends.

One of the hardest things about, um, running this podcast for me mentally and emotionally. Is that I’m a slow processor. So when I am in a conversation with anybody in my life, when I am in an interview and they’re asking me to go deep or go within, we’re having a difficult or challenging conversation.

What happens [00:05:00] is I process very slowly. I absorbed the, I absorbed the vibrations around me. I process them. And I’m one of those people that like five days later wakes up and is thinking, Oh, I should have said this. I should have said that. It’s because the way that my mind works as a slow processor, I’m not always coming to those things later on.

So when I do interviews, um, sometimes I get frustrated because a couple of days later, I’m like, Ooh, but I should have said this. I find that it’s. Um, almost more freeing in a way. It feels like a different energy when I get to come on and do solos, because when I’m doing those solos, they’re honestly either one of two things, things that I’m channeling in the moment.

And so, you know, that they’re not coming from me because I’m not processing them at all. It’s just what spirit [00:06:00] is bringing through. Or they are things in solo episodes that I have thought about and prayed on and talk to the angels about for eons. And I have really processed it thoroughly in that now I’m bringing it to you.

And it feels like such a relief as an angel messenger to actually get to deliver the message. You feel a sense of completion. You feel like you’ve done your job and you feel this sense of release and freedom within your body where now that that message has gotten out to everyone, the energy can clear out of my physical body and the angels can bring in new messages for you.

So with that said, um, I have had so many friends, um, and acquaintances and people that I’ve just become close to over the years who, um, [00:07:00] are, are going through so much in LA and I want you to tune into your own vibration as I talk about this next piece, because maybe you’re like me. Maybe you. You, you feel things and you process things differently, but there have been so many times in my life where something very, very major happens, um, whether it’s a hurricane, you know, a natural disaster of some format.

When I was in college, I actually witnessed somebody pass away, uh, right in front of me unexpectedly. at a party, um, major, you know, things, you know, you’re watching the news and we’ve all seen it, there are big, big things that happen and what I’ve noticed. over decades upon decades is how my physical body is reacting to the collective consciousness and to the collective [00:08:00] energies within the world.

How we’re all reacting. Right. And I think what we each feel specifically within our physical bodies, that’s different for each person. What happens for me is energetically. I feel like my energy is paralyzed. It’s not, um, moving within my mind, within my body, within my heart. It’s. Until I put my intention intention on sending it to the place that needs it.

So I really get into this mode when anything happens. Um, and I’ve done this for decades where I’m in a constant state of prayer, a constant state of just sending my energy where it needs to go. Sending that energy to people in LA, to people who have lost their homes, to people [00:09:00] who don’t know still if they’re going to lose their homes, the animals, just seeing God universe source energy move in through the crown of my head, sending it out to everyone who needs it.

Um, I I bring this up because I think that there are a lot of people who would say, you know, Julie going into that where your energy is more paralyzed, um, is a response that we don’t want to have. Some people make it out to be a negative, but I don’t see it that way. I, I think it’s a very, profound and sacred response to suffering in the world.

And I want to reframe it because if you feel that way too, where you just have your energy get paralyzed, I think it’s. It’s speaking to something within you that you need to understand. It could be that that [00:10:00] paralysis is your body’s way of honoring the magnitude of the events at hand. It’s also a way that your soul is pausing to fully witness the pain, acknowledging the gravity of what has occurred.

This deep empathy is a powerful gift that aligns with, I believe, um, our growth and evolution and the way that we contribute to the collective consciousness. So instead of seeing it as paralyzed energy, what the angels have started to say is see it as stillness with all. I’m going to say that again. See it as stillness with purpose.

And it’s just this natural pause that allows you to redirect your focus inward, connect with God universe source energy, and then Um, from that oneness, that [00:11:00] place of the highest vibration, that is channel your energy and send it outward, um, to be healing and to allow that healing to go where it is needed within the world.

One more thing that I just want you to know, if you’re a person whose energy gets passed out, Um, I also believe it’s a sign of being an energy healer and you might not think of yourself as an energy healer. Your, your angels just said that, but they said you’re heightened sensitivity to global pain. Your heightened sensitivity to global pain suggests that you’re naturally attuned to the collective energy.

This means that you can act as a vessel helping to transmute heavy emotions into healing vibrations. They want you to think of your stillness as calm before releasing waves of love. And compassion into the [00:12:00] world. Hmm. I just love that visual. Um, so we’re going to dive here into the healing. So I hope that you’ll come together with me and listen to this healing, because as you do, I’m going to teach you how to channel God universe source energy through you.

To send it out to people in LA, animals in LA who need it. Um, and you can also use this as a learning opportunity to. Understand how to channel energy if you don’t already so that anytime something comes up in your personal life or within the world, you know how to get in touch with God, universe, source energy, become oneness yourself, and really Have the intent of sending energy where it’s most needed in the world.

Friends. I love you so much. Have a beautiful, beautiful blessed [00:13:00] day. Um, I just really felt called by the angels to come up here and do a prayer and a healing for LA. So I’m going to give you some time to just hop on. Um, but, uh, I’ll just chat with you for a few moments. Okay. As you come in, uh, I’ve gotten the opportunity over the last year to interview just so many beautiful souls.

And I don’t know if you saw Steve Guttenberg on TV, but he was on the podcast this year. He wrote a beautiful book about his father passing. and really being there for his father as his father was transitioning. And, um, if you saw in all of the news footage, you saw Steve Guttenberg was just helping, just jumped in like an earth angel and was helping with so much, uh, with the fires.

And [00:14:00] so, um, What happens is everything is energy, right? We talk about this on the podcast and all energy vibrates. And there’s energy that you have individually just within yourself. There’s energy that your family has together in your home. There’s energy within your community, and there’s energy globally as a collective.

Our energy can be singlet within ourselves, but it can also really deeply fuse in. with other people’s energies. And this isn’t just something that we think of as like spiritual or woo woo. This is backed by science that your energy is so ingrained that it physically impacts your physical body. Um, and so I have struggled over the years with When bigger things happen in life, [00:15:00] um, how to feel that and how to process that within my physical body.

What am I talking about? Um, So I was first trained as a journalist, right? And I remember being in the newsroom when Columbine happened in 1999. And I remember going into the newsroom the day that 9 11 happened, and, Um, we’ve had so many recent just natural disasters and natural disasters over the years.

And what I’ve noticed from an energetic perspective is that my energy tends to act in a certain way when the collective is experiencing something. So, um, my energy tends to freeze up, uh, tends to be paralyzed a little bit, um, is very, [00:16:00] very deeply saddened. It feels very hurt. And I almost feel energetically, and maybe you can relate to this as an empath when there’s something happening on a very major scale.

I have to do a lot of extra work on my energy just to process and to bring myself and my own energy back to baseline because, um, what I believe is that as an energetic thread, all of our individual energies work together too. So when we feel and process, How we’re reacting to a natural disaster, like the fires that happened in la and we work on our own energy and we come together like this to really send energy and send love.

It’s shifting the vibration. And there also, there’s been a lot done scientifically on that too, that coming together and helping send healing, [00:17:00] praying, unifying our energy altogether here. Um. really does help. So I’m going to lead us through a prayer and healing. And, um, what I want you to know is that when I do this, right, like I hold up my hands like this, what I’m doing is asking God universe source energy to come through my crown, the crown of my head.

Down through my head, my neck, through my shoulders, through my arms, and then out here. And I visualize with the intent of my mind that what I’m doing is calling in God Universe Source Energy because it’s the highest vibration that is, and sending it over to Everybody impacted in L. A. People have lost someone.

The animals out there. Oh my God. Don’t even get me started on the animals. My heart. I just I’ve been in tears the last few days. [00:18:00] Just like watching the news. It’s just been really, really heavy. Um, What the angels want you to know as you’re listening is that you have the ability, you don’t have to have any training in the past, you have the ability to direct energy with your mind and with your intention, okay?

Now, I just want you to know one thing before we do this, that if you’ve never channeled energy before, What I want you to know is that it’s not coming from you. Okay? So it can’t hurt you. It can’t deplete your energy. We’re not taking energy away from you. When you send energy and when you channel energy, you are asking for it to come from God universe source through you to those who need it.

And because we’re doing it in that way, that process, it’s not coming from your physical body. It’s not coming from your pure energy. [00:19:00] It’s coming from God through you. And so because God universe source is this limitless, uh, vast, infinite energy of unconditional love and support and strength and goodness and everything that we need.

It can’t be depleted. So it’s going to come through you. To those who need it. And many people don’t feel depleted after they actually feel energized because one of the byproducts of doing this work is that as you’re channeling energy and sending energy, your energy within is shifting too because I want you to think as God universe source energy is coming through you through your hands to everyone who needs it.

What ends up happening is, um, it’s in your body, right? And it’s changing the molecules, it’s changing the cells, it’s [00:20:00] working in the tissues of your body. And so you’re becoming more of that oneness God Universe Source Energy as well. It’s not the reason, it’s the energy. It’s not the intention that we do healing work to help others.

Um, the helping and the serving is always the intent, but there is a byproduct of being a healer and doing energetic work, um, intuitive work. It actually heals you as you heal others. So um, what I’m going to have you do is get comfortable now so that we can channel energy together. We can send love and support to everyone in LA.

Um, and friends, I know that, um, I’ve been really emotional the last couple of days. And if you feel really emotional, your angels are just saying to let you know that you can, um, start this. You know, [00:21:00] stop it, come back to it. I will put it up live so that you can, um, come back. I’ll post it after this so you can come back to this as many times as you want.

Um, But just go easy on yourself too because I truly believe that the healers, the intuitives in the world are some of the biggest key vibration holders and you’ve probably been feeling so much because you’re working through the energy, um, on behalf of the collective already. So I’m just going to have you close your eyes

And I want you to begin by taking a deep breath in, but you’re breathing in through your heart.

Breathing out of your heart.

Breathing in through your heart.[00:22:00] 

Breathing out. I want

you to keep your eyes closed as we call for God universe source to come in. To connect all of our energies here and now. with the intention of God Universe Source Energy working through all of us to help, serve, benefit everyone in the LA region, everyone in California who’s been experiencing wildfires, all of the animals, to give them all of the strength, support, love, mental clarity that they need.

And as you continue to take a deep breath in and as you continue to breathe out, I just want you to feel yourself grounding into this moment. You can place your hands over your [00:23:00] heart, call in your angels, feel and see your angels surrounding you. Feel and see angels surrounding LA. Thank you for joining me.

The fires that are still burning, angels working with the winds, angels working with the weather, the conditions. We ask God Universe Source and we visualize within our minds rain coming to California California. We see big clouds of rain coming in where they’re needed, raining down droplets that fill the dry earth with moisture,[00:24:00] 

supporting the ground, supporting the area out there so that we can cease these wildfires. We could stop more from happening in the future.

And I want you to feel Archangel Michael come in to everyone. Every person who’s been impacted, whether they’re in L. A. or not. And I want you to see Archangel Michael at each soul’s side. Archangel Michael brings them strength. courage, helping them to be bigger than the fear that they have. Michael helps them to see a future for themselves [00:25:00] where the situation made them better, brought them more.

I want you to see Archangel Michael at the side of every soul, helping them find clarity. And peace in their hearts.

I want you to see Archangel Ariel, master angel of nature and all of the animals. I want you to feel, because this is the truth, Archangel Ariel has already been working in the hearts of so many people to just plant a seed of caring and love for animals in that area. [00:26:00] And I want you to see her to complete, uh, continue to plant that seed of caring for animals in the hearts of those who need it.

To bring their compassion, love, and support to help every little animal soul who needs it out in LA.

Whether those are wildlife animals. I want you to see that there are angels at the side of every animal helping them feel loved,

supported, surrounded.[00:27:00] 

And friends, I want you to call in Archangel Raphael to those who this has physically impacted, all of those who are impacted within their physical body’s energy with the smoke and the chemicals that they’re inhaling, especially all of the blessed, blessed firefighters who are working so hard to put out these fires to help everyone heal, to bring healing to LA.

I want you to see Archangel Raphael working with their energy to detox their physical bodies. Of those chemicals. I want you to see Archangel Raphael and his team of healer angels working with all of the firefighters to keep them strong, to keep their bodies healthy. Again, to remove those toxins and chemicals from their [00:28:00] bodies.

We just ask for miracles in every way, shape, and form. For all of the courageous firefighters who are helping.

We ask Archangel Raphael to continue the support too, within the lungs and the physical bodies of every animal and every person who’s in the LA area right now, who has been and who will be.

And friends, I want you to see Archangel Razael stepping forward, Raziel wants us to work with him right now. For everyone who is displaced, Archangel Raziel has been working overtime to make sure that every single person has a [00:29:00] place to go, has support, is able to rebuild.

Archangel Raziel is working miracles with the insurance companies as well.

I just want you to take a moment with your mind’s eye to see every soul that has been displaced, finding temporary housing, and I want you to see them having a life better than they even imagined possible in the future. That everything is being worked out in their favor.

There are so many miracles that I’ve already started to hear about coming from people [00:30:00] who survived and, and just intuitively helped others get, uh, to safety as well. And I just want us to thank all of the loved ones on people’s spirit teams on the other side, because I have really felt and heard so many of them whispering Getting help for their loved ones.

And, uh, I just want us to send some gratitude to, to God Universe Source, the Angels, everyone’s spirit teams because they’ve already been doing so much to help this situation. I hope you feel that too as we’re all sending this gratitude. I just feel this very high vibrational energy through all of us just lifting up to God Universe Source energy.

God Universe Source, we place your shield of protection over the firefighters, first responders, and volunteers. [00:31:00] Give them strength, courage, and endurance to face the flames. Guide them safely through their tasks and ensure that they’re always protected by your beautiful oneness energy. Archangel Raphael, we ask you again to bring this healing to all that are suffering.

Heal the hearts of those who have lost their homes. Heal the animals who have been injured or displaced. Wrap your beautiful emerald green energy around the city. and bring calm to the chaos. We trust in your divine healing power to restore peace and balance.

Archangel Ariel, again, we ask you to just protect all of the animals, guide them to safety, ensure they’re met with compassionate hands. And God, universe [00:32:00] source, we ask you to send rain, to nourish the dry earth, bringing renewal to the lands that have been affected. Archangel Gabrielle, we ask you to bring through divine messages of hope, whisper words of comfort and reassurance to those who are afraid.

Remind them that they’re never alone and ask the angels to walk besides them every step of the way.

Now I want you to imagine a golden energy pouring down from God universe source. This energy carries the essence of peace, protection and divine healing. Visualize this golden energy spreading over the city of Los Angeles. See it covering homes, the streets, churches, [00:33:00] schools, the mountains and skies. And I want you to imagine the flames shrinking under this beautiful divine energy.

I want you to see and visualize with your mind’s eye, these flames shrinking until they’re completely extinguished. And in place of the fire, I want you to see the land completely regenerated with green grass growing, beautiful trees blooming, animals returning to their natural habitat. The skies are clear.

The air is pure and fresh again. See the angels spreading their wings over the city. See Archangel Michael’s brilliant blue energy surrounding the firefighters and first responders, [00:34:00] giving them protection, giving them strength. Archangel Michael and Archangel Raphael’s energies flow into the hearts of all those who are hurting, bringing healing to those in pain.

An Archangel Ariel’s soft pink energy embraces every animal, guiding them to safety, healing their wounds, calming their fears. An Archangel Gabriel’s beautiful white energy moves through the city, bringing peace, hope, clarity to everyone affected. I want you to breathe deeply and send your own prayer, love and oneness, universal energy into the city itself.[00:35:00] 

Maybe you have friends out there. You can say a little prayer for them, send God’s energy, the energy to them and see God’s energy surrounding them and their homes and their children. With peace, love, and support, protection.

Um, his name is Michael Galeon. He’s got a new book out. It’s called let it settle daily habits to move you from chaos to calm. Michael, welcome to the show. 

Mihcael Galyon: Thank you so much for having me. I’m excited to get to speak to you today. 

Julie: Yeah. So I’m going to let, um, our podcast listeners know we’re recording this on, uh, Thursday, January 9th.

Um, but we were going to have it air in February, but given everything that’s happening in LA right now, the wildfires, um, I thought that this is a really important topic that you speak on to help All of us. And I’m just going to kind of tee you up here for this question. And maybe you can walk us through a little healing together, but, [00:37:00] um, you know, we go through all of these chaotic moments together.

As a collective. And even though these wildfires are happening all the way out in LA, you’re in New York, I’m in Chicago. Um, I’ve just been watching the news in tears and I just can’t even imagine. My heart just breaks. Um, for these families who had to flee so fast and take nothing with them. And they wake up in the morning, just.

Thinking everything is, is going to be great and everything changes in the blink of an eye. And, um, I wanted to kind of walk into this a couple of different ways because I have a background in news and I remember being with my fellow writers in the newsroom, um, when Columbine happened. And I remember going into the newsroom the day of [00:38:00] 9 11 and You just, uh, I think maybe everybody handles it differently, and maybe you can speak to this, but for me and my body, I know my energy very well in those moments of just complete chaos and trauma and heartbreak.

Everything feels paralyzed within the energy of my body and it just feels frozen. And I didn’t know if you could speak to that. 

Mihcael Galyon: I think in moments like you. You spoke about in these big kind of life altering moments, which which I do think the fires in California is it’s life altering moment for all of us to to see this level of devastation, all at once, is similar to to 911 is similar to calvine these kind of collective experiences of pain, and in those moments.

We have a tendency to either go into a [00:39:00] mode of catastrophizing to allowing for our mind to think of the worst case scenarios, almost in an attempt to prepare ourselves for what more could happen. Or we emotionally and spiritually bypass the moment and say, well, it’s going to be okay. It’s going to be okay.

And in both of those experiences, we’re Denying the truth of the experience that we’re feeling and so that frozen is a protecting and I think if we can move past that and get into a space where we can allow for ourselves to feel things without the fear that it will bring us to our knees, or maybe allow for it to bring us to our knees because that’s the gravity of the situation.

It is perfectly acceptable for us in this moment to be devastated. It is perfectly acceptable for us to feel the weight of what’s happening and be able to honor that. To be able to allow for our bodies to feel that, to feel that connection that we have for the people who are suffering, for the animals that are suffering, for the [00:40:00] history that is suffering right now.

And give ourselves permission to just for a moment be with that, to honor it. And then we can allow for it to begin to pass, to get ourselves out of that freeze and into action. But in order to be in action, we have to honor our feelings. 

Julie: One of the things that the angels just keep saying is maybe there’s an exercise that you can do for all of us right now to kind of walk us through a little bit of that.

Mihcael Galyon: Yeah. 

Julie: Okay. 

Mihcael Galyon: I think

I’ll take you through just a way to get grounded into the moment to allow for you to connect with that experience. And so what I’ll say to anyone listening is to just be open and honest with yourself. If anything feels too overwhelming, if anything feels unsafe, feel free to open your eyes and begin to just process back into the moment and be there.[00:41:00] 

But for a moment, just, Do me a favor and just close down your eyes, and just allow for yourself to feel into this moment. Even physically feeling into what’s beneath you, just the awareness of what it feels like to be present, connecting to the chair or the cushion or the bed beneath you. Allow for yourself to feel that sinking feeling.

And in that sinking, allow for yourself to feel the support of the earth below you.

Feeling into a feeling of trust, that by letting go, you’ll be held.

And as you let yourself feel into that feeling of being held, start to also become aware of the openness of space around you. [00:42:00] The space in front of you, the space behind you, the space to either side of you and above you. Just this vast openness. So often when we’re dealing with the pain, we feel so suffocated, so stuck in a space.

And just for a moment, regardless of what’s going on in your body, start to connect with that feeling of openness around you. Knowing that with each breath, there is a moment to expand, and a moment to come back to center.

And just give yourself permission with each breath to press into the openness of space. And then return back to center.[00:43:00] 

And as you give yourself permission to feel into the support, into the expansion, start to tune into your body for just a moment,

and just let yourself listen to what’s calling out to you.

Maybe it’s a aching in the chest, maybe it’s a clenching of the fists, a tightness in the body.

And just for a moment, start to connect with that part of you that is calling out for your attention, removing any judgment or needing it to be any different than what it is.

And as you feel into that part, that physical connection to whatever is coming up for you,[00:44:00] 

start to feel into the emotion beneath it.

Within that tension, what is the emotional connection there,

in this time of unrest? Is there a, is there a pain? Is there a fear?

Whatever it is, without feeling frozen, just give yourself permission to let that be with you.

And then as you start to label and identify what that emotion is, what that feeling of tension or tightness is, start to become aware of that openness of space again. [00:45:00] That ability to connect with the expansion. And almost as if that part of you could become a balloon. With each breath, allow for that to fill within your body.

inviting in that emotion, allowing for it to grow, knowing that it is there for a reason.

And as you settle into that feeling, start to remind yourself that it’s there for a reason and that you can honor it. You can let it grow as large as it needs to. It might, whatever physical reaction needs to be there, be there.

So let yourself be with that emotion today. Let it come up in whatever way it needs to and know that it will pass. And from that passing, we could begin to be in action. [00:46:00] But from here, go ahead and flutter your eyes open, just taking the space around you and enter back feeling connected and calm. 

Julie: It was a wonderful, um, it could really feel into when you kind of said, uh, feel into that part of your body and then what’s underneath and, and feeling that just all this flood of sadness came up.

And I started to wonder, um, You know, we all go through little traumas. We go through big traumas in our own lives. And why do we just have this one way of dealing with it? And in your book, you know, you talk about daily habits. How can those daily habits really start to shift? Probably what we’ve developed in childhood [00:47:00] as a response to what we’re dealing with in our every day.

Mihcael Galyon: So a lot of this comes from, it’s, it’s just that conditioning that we’ve created. And through the experiences that we’ve had, the life that we’ve lived, we create these protective mechanisms. And it’s this warning signal that, oh, you’re getting too close to something that has happened in the past. And that created a period of shame or embarrassment or pain.

And our bodies were comfort seeking machines. We want to find comfort in all things. And so we’re going to choose the way to find comfort in the quickest way possible. And so we create these kind of, these, uh, protective mechanisms, these ways of being, these walls that we put up, as a way to protect ourselves.

And they work. They’ve worked in the past. And so we just continue to use them, because why would we stop using something that’s working? But what we’re not recognizing is [00:48:00] that as we grow and as we develop and we build new tools, those protective mechanisms are not needed in the way that they were before.

And in fact, they may be hindering our growth and development. And so the first step here is really through mindfulness, becoming aware when we have that awareness of how we operate within the world, how we respond to certain situations, when we create that awareness, then we begin to have choice in the matter.

It’s no longer an automatic reaction that we have no awareness of, it’s, it’s an instinct to action, which we then can decide, is this benefiting me, or is this harming me? And so that’s really where we start, is really drawing awareness to, okay, here’s, here’s the situation. Let me check in, and just as we did in that meditation, let me check in with a physical response, what is my body wanting me to do right now?

And as I look underneath that, what is the emotion that’s [00:49:00] present there? And in the face of that emotion, what is the instinct to action? What is it making me want to do in that moment? And then again, it’s just that question of, does that instinct help me to get to where I want to be, or does it help, does it hinder me from being who I want to be in the world, what I want to do in the world?

And if it doesn’t, We figure out, how do I create new tools? How do I create new ways of operating in that space? And we start to build this arsenal of tools, which is in the book, we create those daily habits. We have a daily habit of mindfulness. We have a daily habit of checking in with loving kindness.

All of these things that we can then start to rely on, instead of what we’ve instinctively relied on in the past. 

Julie: Why don’t you talk about a little bit how you found this process through your own life and your own journey to kind of understanding this and, um, to really giving [00:50:00] life to this book. 

Mihcael Galyon: I think with most things, the, the greatest learning opportunities we can have is through personal experience.

And so a lot of this came out of my own extreme anxiety and trauma from, from childhood that carried with me and started to manifest in ways that I was using those protective mechanisms in a way that was keeping me so stuck in my life. That was keeping me away from, from a career that I wanted to be in because I was too afraid.

It was starting to develop these severe panic attacks. Um, I live in New York and so it is the, Loudest place on earth as many if you’ve been here, it is loud and chaotic and crazy and I in my early 20s was living here and pursuing a career in musical theater. And I was having success in doing that, but the daily stress and anxiety was getting so much that I was having these severe panic attacks that [00:51:00] I could no longer perform.

I couldn’t get on stage. I couldn’t go into an audition. And it was so bad that I couldn’t even get on the train most days. And so I became so isolated. And so I was seeking anything that would help me. And so it was in a yoga class in Queens, New York, in Astoria, where I went and the Yoga teacher was also a meditation teacher, and she started guiding us through a mindfulness based meditation.

And it was the most simple meditation of just connecting with the body and doing a body scan. And I remember for the first moment where it just felt like I was able to connect with what was going on. I was able to connect with my body, connect with the emotional experience, and for a brief moment, allow for that to pass, and just be present to a calm space.

And so, from that moment, I was like just Tell me more. What is this? What just happened to me? And so it became this kind of obsession with figuring out how do I [00:52:00] get myself in a space where I can find that sense of calm that I’m desperately needing in this moment. And through years of my own personal study, and then eventually going on to become a mindfulness instructor and a certified mindfulness teacher, I just started to develop all of these tools and tips that were working in my own life.

And then I started implementing them first into teaching. I started teaching, um, in a preschool. That was kind of my, my side job after I was done performing. And I did that for about a decade. And it was amazing to start to implement mindfulness and meditation into the preschool classroom and seeing how it worked and seeing how it was so beneficial for them.

And then, Eventually started using it with adults. And then I launched my coaching practice and my meditation teaching practice. And it’s just been this joy to get to bring something that has been so impactful for me into the world. And now to share it with millions of [00:53:00] people who get to experience it every day.

Julie: I love that. Um, In the reading that I’ve done, uh, I don’t know if you’ve ever come across his work. I’ve got all of his books and I’m like drawing a blank, but you might know who I’m talking about when I say this. Um, he studied shame and the different vibrations of emotions. And he said when he went into it, he thought that fear or hate would be the lowest vibrations, but he found that shame is really the lowest vibration that is.

And as my husband and I have worked with a counselor for almost 10 years and I’ve done counseling, you know, often on my entire life, um, I don’t think that all of humanity has. A well enough understanding of what shame is and [00:54:00] how it operates within us, how it blocks us from really being on our path. And I wonder if you can kind of explain that and what you’ve seen with shame and your own clients, um, and how you have them work with it.

Mihcael Galyon: It’s really born out of this idealized version of who we need to be, who we should be. And a lot of that makes sense, you know, we live in a society which is very much pointed at telling you who you should be and putting you into a box and exactly this is the path that you should take and this is how you should operate in the world.

And so when we feel like we’re deviating from that path, we feel like we are not living up to the expectations that either we have for ourselves or that others have for us, we begin to. feel this level of shame and judgment. So in mindfulness, we talk about one of the core tenets of mindfulness is non judgment.

And so being able to remove judgment from all of our experiences and [00:55:00] all of our emotional connections. And so oftentimes when we’re dealing with shame, it’s a, uh, overabundance of judgment that is in our lives. And so when we can start to remove that and view life through one of the questions that I always ask clients is, Why does it make perfect sense that you’re feeling this right now?

Why does it make perfect sense that that was the choice that you made? And it’s not excusing behaviors, but it’s just saying that everything that we do, every action that we take, every choice that we make is grounded in a reality of, of, A choice that makes sense. It made sense for us to make that because we were fearful in that moment.

Even though it wasn’t the right choice for us to make, or the best choice for us to make, there was a reason behind it. And when we can start to remove that judgment, we start to remove the shame because we’re no longer attached to the version that we think that we should be. We’re accepting of the version of who we are [00:56:00] in the world.

And so that’s what I think that people can really benefit from, is just having that moment of knowing that without changing a thing about yourself, you are perfect and whole, and that there is no idealized version of you that you need to be. You can want to grow, you can want to change, but it’s not a requirement in order for you to be worthy, to be whole, to be perfect.

Oh, you’re muted.

Julie: Thank you. And you can hold those things at the same time that you are perfect. I would say that you’re one with all that is God universe source. Your soul is perfect and, and have those wants, dreams, desires at the same time. 

Mihcael Galyon: Yeah. And they need to, to co exist. 

Julie: Yeah. They 

Mihcael Galyon: need to, because it’s, because you are whole and you are perfect, you, you are worthy of the things that you desire at the same time.

And so it’s totally [00:57:00] okay. And that’s holding that gratitude for where you are in your life, that reverence for where you are in your life, but also a desire for more. And both are okay. 

Julie: I was having this conversation with my members the other day. We’re focused in on, um, manifesting miracles with aligned co creation this month, and I really have seen within all of my clients and people that I’ve worked with over the years that.

You have to choose though, one more than the other, because we all hold judgments within, but a lot of times, um, and I have a lot of this within my family history, just constant criticalness, right? Constant judgmentalness and, um, inward, backward talking, you know, of one another, and it was really toxic. Um, you can have.

judgment, or you can have [00:58:00] building, co creating, manifesting. You have to choose one more so than the other though, I see, to push the needle forward in your life. You kind of have to be aware. Of that judgment and, um, realize that that can also impact you in your future and your present right now of where you want to go.

There’s so much that holds people back because they’ve had that judgment in their family history. They think, Oh, well, if I go do this thing, or if I try this new thing or, you know, speak out about this and be who they are, they’re going to get criticized. And I see so often it just. Blocks people from really creating the lives that they, they want.

Mihcael Galyon: And a lot of that stems from. the energy that we put behind growth. And the [00:59:00] metaphor that I like to, to illustrate here is there’s, there’s many ways to get from here to there. And I like to think of it as, you know, if you have a horse who you’re trying to get from this side of the field, all the way to the other side of the field, there’s a few ways that you could do that.

So the first way is you can stand all the way over the other side and you can just wave your hand and say, Hey, come here. Or you can take a whip and you can whip that horse and you can make it move really, really fast. The problem with that is if you’re on the other side just waving, the horse might not see you.

It might take a lot longer for them to actually get there and they may choose not to go there. If you whip the horse, it’s going to create fear, it’s going to create an urgency for them to move really quickly, and maybe they’re going to burn out before they actually get to the other side. It’s also going to create a feeling of distrust in you moving forward.

Or you can move there and you can go and you can gently guide it to the other side. And that is the way that I, I want people to start to, [01:00:00] to think about how can you start to, to move towards the life that you want is being there and being with yourself to be able to, to recognize that you being there and gently moving forward with yourself is the way that you’re going to actually be able to continue moving forward.

It’s not burning you out. It’s not putting such extra stress on your body and it’s creating a space where there’s not judgment and where there is an uplifting presence in that moment. 

Julie: It’s amazing. You know, what’s really fascinating about your work too, is working with preschoolers and then working with adults too, and preschoolers have, um, this energy just when they’re so young of, they haven’t been.

Influenced by the world and they’re so pure and they’re so innocent. And I really believe that they’re more connected in that way to the other side and more so acting as their soul self in those early years, what can we learn to, or what have [01:01:00] you learned from just working with these two kind of polar opposite age groups and what can adults learn from the young ins?

Mihcael Galyon: I think it’s really interesting. I think children are such just bundles of emotion, and they’re, they’re, they’re so instinctively driven. It’s, I have a feeling, and I’m just going to act on what that feeling is. And I think adults do that, but it’s covered up with an air of, I’m not supposed to be doing that.

It’s this, this feeling of judgment that, that blankets us where it’s, it’s this, I’m not going to trust my instincts. I’m not going to listen to my emotional responses. And so with children, it’s training them to be able to say, okay, we can have those feelings. We can have those instincts. We can have those and that’s totally okay.

But let’s figure out the decision, you know, what, what’s best for us. And the same is true for adults. It’s just allowing for yourself to, to really. Without judgment, understand your instincts to understand how you react to certain situations, trusting that intuition, trusting [01:02:00] that, but then also deciding what’s in your best interest, what’s best for you and what’s best for the world around you.

So they’re very similar. I mean, the way that I work with kids is very similar to how I work with adults. 

Julie: Isn’t that so cool? 

Mihcael Galyon: Yeah, it is cool. 

Julie: Yeah, 

Mihcael Galyon: it’s fun. 

Julie: Yeah, going back to your book to letting it settle. What does that look like in a practical, practical sense, um, for you in your daily life? 

Mihcael Galyon: So it’s really taking a moment to allow for the body to settle, to connect with what does the body feel like today, allowing for that to begin.

Begin to settle. It’s allowing for the mind to stop racing and begin to settle. It’s allowing for your emotions to have a place to be without judgment to recognize them and to allow for those to settle. So it’s really a grounding into the present moment with a full acceptance of how you’re showing up in that moment.

Julie: Yeah. [01:03:00] Um, you work sometimes too with people who have more perfectionism characteristics and they feel like they can never get it right. And that’s something that’s really deeply seated and ingrained sometimes. Um, how do you really get through to those folks to take them and pull them out of that perfectionist piece?

Mihcael Galyon: Perfectionism really is born out of fear. And it’s a fear that you’re not enough. It’s a fear that if you don’t show up in a perfect manner, that you’re not going to get the things that you want in life. And so first step is to identify what is that fear in your life? What is that you actually are fearing?

Because a lot of times when, when we’re perfectionists, we’re actually not doing perfect work. We’re just preventing ourselves from doing the things that we need to do because we’re afraid that if we don’t show up perfectly, it’s not worth it. [01:04:00] And so a lot of it is just identifying what is the fear there?

And in the face of fear, how can we Be aware of that fear to recognize it and then to take the step forward that we need to do. It’s about these little, um, things that we can add into our day that are just going to allow for us to keep moving forward. Not feeling like we have to take this giant leap or not feeling like we have to be doing everything that we need to possibly be doing.

But it’s slowing people down and just getting them to take step by step towards where they want to be. 

Julie: Um, and what are your thoughts on fear and instead of how people can work with it instead of running for from it. I know that that ties into exactly like what you were just talking about, but, um, let’s see, is that a good question or should I ask a different one?

I’ve got a list. 

Mihcael Galyon: No, that’s a good one. I think, yeah, fear is, I look at fear as an indicator that we are facing something that’s really meaningful and important [01:05:00] to us. And so it’s, it’s being able to, to accept that fear, to be able to have it, hold it, give reference to it, allow for it to be there. And then from there, just saying, okay, is this something that is stopping me because I’m in danger?

Or is this stuff something that’s stopping me because I’m actually really anxious and excited about what’s happening. And so it’s just allowing for it to be there with, as we do with any emotion, allow for it to be there, Make the right decision on what’s best for you. 

Julie: Perfect. Um, so you’ll appreciate this.

I was sitting with a group of counselors and therapists recently at lunch, and it was interesting because having lived through the eighties and nineties and seeing how much we do things differently today than we did things back then, they were kind of getting in this discussion. And I just sat back and observed, but.

There’s, [01:06:00] and I can kind of see it on a major platform as well, of a new school way of doing things where you do find calm and you find that calm and that peace, and you really safeguard that within and you protect that within. And. As you get healthier, you know, there’s one day when my husband and I were in with a marriage counselor and my husband said, you know, to our counselor, Mark, you know, Mark, it’s really hard to be around people who haven’t done that work on themselves and to have a very strong relationship with them because you see so much more of the unhealthy behavior and it’s just really hard to be around.

And Mark said, yeah, I mean, that’s part of the double edged sword of doing your work on yourself is you see more of it. Um, you see more unhealthy behaviors. And, uh, then I have another group of [01:07:00] friends who say as counselors, we’re becoming too boundaried. We’re becoming too siloed. Um, more kind of an old school.

Well, just sit down and work on it and figure it out. How do you do that? And, and I don’t know that there is a right or wrong answer, but where do you stand on this and how do you find calm and protect your peace when other people constantly kind of step over that unhealthy line within the relationship?

Mihcael Galyon: Yeah. I think it’s about figuring out what you need in that moment. And that can change. You know, we can have moments where the calm that we, we need is the most important thing in the world. But the truth is [01:08:00] that we exist in community, we exist in relationship with other people. And so it’s not realistic to believe that your calm is going to always be there and no one is going to enter into your energetic space.

And that, you know, you’re just going to. Be able to protect yourself from all of that. That is siloing yourself and that’s actually creating unrealistic expectations for yourself. And so it’s similar to, so I’ll say in meditation, so many people will come and say, I can’t meditate because my mind is always thinking.

Well, yes, that’s the point of it. And so what we talk about is it’s the conscious awareness of thought and then the redirection to a present moment activity. And so I think when we’re in relationship with people, it’s being aware of when our energy is being pulled. It’s being aware of when we are moving away from our sense of calm and then making the conscious choice to redirect in the way [01:09:00] that’s best for us.

So it’s not bad that they’re taking our calm away. It’s It’s just deciding, can I sustain this? Is this okay for me? Or do I need to put up a boundary here? So that keeps you away from having to be so protective and so boundaried that you can’t let people in. But it’s allowing for you to just have that awareness of, Okay, we’re getting to a point where this isn’t healthy.

Now I’m going to put up a boundary. Now I’m going to protect my peace and come back. So it’s just that awareness and redirecting. 

Julie: Interesting. How has that shown up in your life? And I also feel like you’re so great at just different exercises and the daily tools that you’ve created. I wonder if you could share a couple with the audience that has just really transform your life and in such a.

Miraculous way, 

Mihcael Galyon: you know, a lot of them are rooted in mindfulness. That’s a big component of my [01:10:00] teaching and it really is coming back to that present moment. And so figuring out different ways that we can do this, a lot of this just comes from being a preschool teacher and you have to just come up with a million different things for kids to do because they’re, you know, their attention span is three seconds long.

And so it’s how can we come up with ways that’s going to excite them, engage them and get them to do what’s best for them. And so one of the things I talk about in the book is in very easy methods, 5, grounding technique for anxiety. And so in those moments where you’re feeling like your mind is racing, like you’re not.

connected to your body, you feel frozen, you’re just connecting back to the present moment experience by looking around you and seeing first five things that you can see with your eyes, then connecting with four things that you can physically touch around you, connect with your sense of touch, then opening your ears and finding three things that you can hear.

Two things you can smell and one thing that you can taste. So that’s just allowing for [01:11:00] you to, to become aware of what actually is happening around us. Become aware of your senses. And in those moments, you can notice that your mind can’t be thinking of all the catastrophizing things that it might be because you’re so aware of the present moment.

And so that’s, that’s a great one. Another one we have in the book is that there’s somatic tools that can really help as well. So one of my favorite is which adults love this more than kids, I think, but it’s the butterfly hug where you simply take your hands and it looks like you have a little butterfly right here and you’re just tapping from side to side.

And so it’s just this gentle hug that you’re giving yourself this bilateral stimulation. So it’s actually activating both sides of your brain so you can have the logical and emotional sides both connected. And so you’re not just fully working on an emotional response to something, but you’re allowing for yourself to have that logic included in there.

And so it’s just this gentle caressing of yourself back and forth. [01:12:00] Similar to in therapy, they’ll, um, they’ll, Do the bilateral stimulation when you’re working with trauma work, but it’s because you’re taking something that is so emotionally driven and you’re adding the ability to have logic in there.

The same can be done by just tossing a ball back and forth, a pen back and forth, or doing a meditation where you’re going from side to side and drawing awareness to your right knee, to your left knee, to your right hip. To your left of it. So those are just two of the ones that are really fun and exciting and easy.
